MFC6 (Malaysian Fighting Championship 6) was held at Southgate Commercial Centre in Kuala Lumpur last night featuring some well-known names in the South East Asian MMA scene, like URCC interim Featherweight Champ, Will "The Kill" Chope (I was surprised that his fight wasn't even considered a co-main event), and DARE FC fighter, Alexsandro "Leke" Machado. It was quite an action-packed night; out of 13 bouts, only one managed to go all the way to the judges' scorecard.
Will Chope finished off his opponent, Mostafa Ashouri, early in the first round as many would've expected. In the main event, debutant Bulat Kiyalov caused an upset by getting the win against Alexsandro Machado via doctor stoppage in the first round due to apparent broken ribs. In the first ever MFC women fight, Helen Harper won against local Zhen Wei with a guillotine choke submission in the third round. The bout between Liam Nazaripour and Taktak Arai showed me that it's not impossible for a knockout from a take down.
The refereeing was a bit unusual. I'm not sure if the rules were different. There were punches to the back of the head, and knees to the head of fighter on ground but not stopped or even warned by the referee. One of the fights were paused like twice to allow the fighter to put her contact lenses back on. The worst mistake of all was when the wrong winner was announced.

But all in all, this edition of MFC was a huge improvement from previous ones. Moving out of MFC's previous venues allowed more space for more audience without admission fee. There was also crowd control this time which was practically absent in the past occasions.
Fight of the Night: MALIK KREISHAN vs. UMAR GADOEV
These two started throwing bombs at each other right from the beginning. They were energetic and pacy, exactly what the crowd came to see. Gadoev probably landed more shots within the first 3 minutes, got the full mount and had a triangle choke attempt too but just couldn't finish Kreishan off and seemed to have ran out of gas late even before the round ended. Kreishan, on the other hand, never slowed down and continued to throw punches at the exhausted Gadoev. In the 2nd round, Kreishan mounted and did the ground and pound until the referee had seen enough.
Remember this guy? He got easily beaten by Thanh Vu in ONE FC 7 but on this night, he showcased his experience in the cage, executing a perfect triangle choke on Khujadin Zafar in the 2nd round to win the bout.
