Synopsis: Based on the best-selling book, PERCY JACKSON: SEA OF MONSTERS continues the young demigod’s epic journey to fulfill his destiny. To save their world, Percy and his friends must find the fabled and magical Golden Fleece. Embarking on a treacherous odyssey into the uncharted waters of the Sea of Monsters, they battle terrifying creatures, an army of zombies, and the ultimate Evil.

Verdict: Since I've already knew what to expect after watching the previous instalment, I had lowered my expectation and tried to enjoy it as a teenager but apparently, it's still not low enough. This sequel should've been a straight-to-children's-TV release (like Nickelodeon or something). The script's still kiddish as hell (with more American puns than before), no improvement on the acting (it's like as though Logan Lerman was specifically told to show lesser expressions), inconsistent behaviour of characters, cliched kids adventure/fantasy plot with plenty of issues, lame humour, the CGI's probably more unconvincing than before... ah, basically Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters is just not made to entertain adults. Maybe, just maybe, if I was in elementary school, I'd enjoy it and then totally forgotten about it when I grow up.

Second opinion: "It's quite sien (boring) and definitely forgettable" (girlfriend).

To watch in 3D? I didn't watch it in 3D but I believe it'd either disguise the poor CGI or make it more obvious. If you're bringing your very young kid to watch it, however, they'd probably like it.

Malaysian censorship: Please lah, it's a kids show.

[SPOILER SECTION BEGINS HERE]--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Obvious plot holes and issues: Trainees, inexperienced and very young Half-Bloods are sent on extremely important and dangerous mission by the adults and leaders of the Camp who sit around and do nuts, one even steals idea from Annabeth (Alexandra Daddario). The bad guys manage to poison the magical tree that has been providing a barrier that protects the Camp of Half-Bloods and sent a robot bull to cause chaos until the hero, Pussy Jack's Son (Logan Lerman), saves the day (and no character seems to appreciate that) but why no send more of these troublemakers after or in the first attack itself. Later I learnt that this was the only attack by the incompetent villains. Then there's scene where the son of Poseidon (the protagonist) and his friends have to find a way to cross the ocean and end up relying on a sea creature for the trip but later on we see him surfing on waves that he creates and Luke (Jake Abel), the bad guy, chases him by running on water... what's the point of the sea creature then? The climax scene, the fight with the last boss, the so-called Kronos is easily defeated by the hero. All Percy Jackson does is swing his pen sword and voila, let's go home. C'mon, even if you had a video game cheat code, it wouldn't be as easy as this.

Most disturbing scene: The magic barrier tree is actually a little girl named Thalia who supposedly died trying to protect her friends and that touched the gods and got turned into a magic tree to protect the Camp with a barrier. She gets poisoned by Luke, the barrier breaks and that's why the Percy's bunch go on an adventure to get the Golden Fleece which can revive anything. At the end, they use the Fleece on the tree and apparently it's so powerful that it revives Thalia as well... and she's a grownup now. Does that mean she was alive all this while?! So now that these half-gods have the weapon that can kill gods' most terrifying enemy and a Fleece that can revive EVERYTHING, there isn't any point to make another sequel right?

To sum up the CGI...
